Army Hospital (R&R) Delhi Launches Femto-LASIK Vision Correction

The Army Hospital (Research and Referral) in Delhi Cantonment inaugurated a state-of-the-art Femto-LASIK Suite, marking a significant advancement in military ophthalmic care. The facility was unveiled by Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), and Lieutenant General Sadhna S Nair, Director General of Medical Services (Army).

This cutting-edge suite employs femtosecond laser technology to perform highly precise and customized LASIK surgeries, offering minimally invasive procedures with faster recovery times. It is specifically designed to address refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, thereby enabling young and middle-aged adults, including military personnel, to achieve spectacle-free vision—crucial for operational readiness.

The inauguration ceremony featured a walkthrough of the facility, highlighting its advanced capabilities. Both Surgeon Vice Admiral Sarin and Lt Gen Nair emphasized the importance of integrating modern technology to enhance the well-being of soldiers and their families. This development aligns with the Armed Forces’ commitment to providing world-class healthcare infrastructure and reflects a broader vision of adopting the latest medical advancements to improve the quality of life for service members.

The establishment of the Femto-LASIK Suite at Army Hospital (R&R) not only enhances the hospital’s role as a leader in military medical innovation but also underscores its dedication to delivering top-tier healthcare tailored to the unique needs of defense personnel.
