IIT Madras creates India’s first septic tank cleaning robot

India's first septic tank cleaning robot, which offers an end-to-end solution to eliminate the practice of manual scavenging, is strengthening the cleanliness drive in different corners of the country. The technology, called HomoSeap Atom, takes manual cleaning methods and turns them into robotic cleaning methods.

It has been developed by a startup housed in the Department of Science and Technology (DST)-Technology Business Incubator (TBI) of IIT Madras. It has reached 16 cities in different parts of India and empowers comprehensive blade cleaning, solid waste desilting, suction and storage on one device, the Ministry of Science and Technology said in a statement.

The startup specializes in developing miniature robots, including India's first 90 mm water robot and 120 mm sewer robot, which can navigate through pipelines 100 mm wide to address pollution challenges in water-sewer pipelines. Is capable. The exposure received through support from DST ensured that the solutions were both sustainable and scalable.

Apart from this flagship product, Solinas' technologies address some of the existing climate challenges like water wastage, groundwater pollution, climate change and day-to-day human challenges like manual scavenging, drinking contaminated water, combined sewer overflows etc.

Technologies like Endobot and Healthy AI serve as pipeline diagnostic tools capable of detecting and mitigating water pollution, wastage and sewer overflows, which are also affected by leaks, blockages and underground water sources like tree roots in cities like Coimbatore. The causes of the issues often go unnoticed.
