Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi virtually flagged off Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh yesterday morning. Dr. Jitendra Singh attended the function from Katra Railway Station. He said that railway projects costing more than Rs 41,000 crore are being carried out in Jammu and Kashmir, which is a record in itself as no other Union Territory or State in the country has achieved such a distinction. Similarly, more than Rs 6,000 crore has been allocated for the development of Jammu and Kashmir in the Union Budget.

He stressed that the record arrival of more than two crore tourists in the valley and the arrival of more than one crore pilgrims at Mata Vaishno Devi temple is the result of that connectivity. Dr. Singh said that the government has reached the last person standing in the queue by providing water, electricity and medical facilities to the people. He said that the role of Jammu and Kashmir will be important in developed India by 2047.
